Footnotes

  • A watch closely related in style and execution to the work of Frédéric Houriet and his student Urban Jurgensen who favored the double wheel duplex. The escapement employs separate concentric wheels for impulse and locking. In the early 19th century, it competed with the detent and lever for use in precision watches. However the escapement is easily deranged and proved unreliable.
