Footnotes

  • Patek Philippe introduced the reference 5070 in 1998. It was the first chronograph introduced by the brand since the 1960's. This particular watch with its large 42mm diameter case and dial with bi-compax subdials was inspired by vintage chronographs such as the ref. 130.

It is fitted with the Calibre CH 27-70, a Lemania based movement with is also fitted in the 5020. The 5070 production was limited to 250 watches per year in each metal. It was in production for a relatively short time:
    1998-2002 Yellow Gold
2002-2008 Rose Gold & White Gold
    2008-2009 Platinum

The present lot was retailed by Tiffany and Co. and is double signed. Watches with a double signed dials are extremely rare. It is believed that less than 10 rose gold Ref. 5070's were sold by Tiffany and Co. The present watch is unused and offered in its original sealed pouch.
