A suite of three Amethyst Geode cross-sections
Amethyst geodes are created over the millennia through the formation of gas cavities in lava tubes. Typically of tapering cylindrical form known in the mineral hobby as "cathedrals" the specimens seen in this suite have a very unusual triangular outline. Possibly consecutive (or near-consecutive) sections of the same immense geode, the quality of the amethyst is particularly fine with a rich purple hue and lustrous, large crystals. Suitable for a mantelpiece or tabletop these are sure to create a stunning display.
