Attributed to Mi-style (Mi Fu and Mi Youren) Landscape.
Signed Baixia Wu Shixian, inscribed, with one seal of the artist, Wu Qingyun Ying, and a dedication to a friend named Huanzhang.

  • Wu Shixian was a prominent figure in Haipai Scool of Painting which emerged in mid 19th century Shanghai and the surrounding area. He was born in Nanjing and resided in Shanghai before going to Japan to further explore his painting style. He specialised in misty landscapes, combining the Mi-style techniques with a Japanese-interpreted European style.
    Mi Fu and Mi Youren, father and son, were famous Northern Song painters and calligraphists. The father is one of the four representative personages of calligraphy art of the Song Dynasty.
