Purple Tourmaline
Mozambique
The tourmalines, which have emerged from this region, are frequently possessed of rather vivid, somewhat outrageous colors previously unknown in this species. This cuprian, or "copper-bearing" tourmaline, which is faceted as a well-proportioned heart-shape, is just such an example with its extraordinarily deep, well-saturated lilac-violet hue. Fairly large in size for the species, the whimsical color is well complimented by its shape.
