signed and dated, the 'Herald of Victory' is a nude female holding a laurel garland, blowing a trumpet standing over a Ballot engine, in fine condition with deep brown patina, 18 inches high.

  • Emile Peynot was a student of the noted French sculptor Robinet, and by the 1880's he began to receive national recognition for his statuary. Throughout his lifetime he produced numerous commissions, some of which are found at Auxerre and Fountainbleau. Peynot was a Knight of the Legion of Honour and became an officer of this most prestigious institution in 1903. See Page 117, Motor Car in Art, by John J. Zolomij.
