Jack Zajac was an artist in residence at the University of California Santa Cruz from 1969 to 1970. During this time, he was commissioned to create a sculpture in honor of two students who were killed in Vietnam. This lot is a study for the full size sculpture, which still sits in the Cowell College Quad on the UCSC campus.
