Finished in 2008-season Honda 'Earthdreams' livery, this 1:1 scale show car is based on the Brackley team's 2005 '070' Formula 1 design. The '070' - or '007' - cars were highly sophisticated machines designed under the direction of technical director Geoff Willis. For the '070', a second generation of the neat carbon transaxle gearbox was developed, with a new gearchange mechanism, intended to improve performance while also saving weight, while the Brackley aerodynamics department had devised new wing and body-shape packages to comply with revised Formula 1 technical regulations. In Japan, the Honda Formula 1 engine development section finalised its RA005E 90-degree V8 for the new season, and meanwhile the team's relationship with the Michelin tyre company was also blossoming. Drivers Jenson Button and Takuma Sato were retained. The best performances of the 2005 car included Button's 3rd places in the German and Belgian Grand Prix races, 4th place in France, and 5th places in the British, Hungarian, Turkish and Japanese GPs. Previously forming part of the Brawn GP Formula 1 team's reserve collection, this show car was purchased at Bonhams' 2009 Silverstone sale (Lot 316) by the immediately preceding owner, from whom it was purchased by the current vendor.
This car has a revised estimate of £15,000 - 18,000.
