1959 Norton 'Dominator 99' Café Racer
Registration no. VAA 252
Frame no. P13 79916
Engine no. TBA
The Norton '99' bought power, speed and handling to the market based on Norton's superlative 'Featherbed' frame in wideline form, allied to the extremely eager 650 parallel-twin motor. Catalogued in touring form with valanced mudguards, so alluring was the firm's race history that many were 'racerised' in period to the now famous 'Café Racer' trim, as was this one, the process involving an engine change at some time. Bought as a project by the vendor, VAA 252 has been restored to its 'original' café form as a fast road machine. Fully rebuilt mechanically, starting easily and sounding good as well as possessing spares, V5C, MOT and Road (free) Tax until March 2012, this 'Dommi' is ready for the summer. All that is needed is a silk scarf and pudding-basin helmet.
