This work belongs to Doğançay's Ribbons series, which he began work on in the early 1970s. Roy Moyer describes the beauty of this series very well: '...where ribbons burst through the surface of a wall like pent-up emotions spilling toward the observer: delicate, gentle ribbons whose explosive life force makes them seem like plant tendrils that can burst through metal.' Extract from Roy Moyer (ed), Doğançay, New York, 1986.
