An inside-painted glass snuff bottle
Gui Xianggu, dated 1896
With flat lip and recessed convex foot surrounded by a protruding oval footrim, painted to one side with a single figure and a donkey within a mountainous landscape, with an arrangement of auspicious objects, including a convoluted rock, a large crackle-glazed vase containing lingzhi fungus, a finger citron and potted chrysanthemums, on the other, inscribed 'Painted by Gui Xianggu in Beijing in the spring of bingshen year for the appreciation of brother Ziyan', with one seal of the artist, 'Xianggu' in negative seal script, stopper.
