  • This tapestry is one of four or five known examples from this series, one of which is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (accession number 1974.586). Another was sold at Sotheby's New York, 24 May 2007, lot 6. Armorial tapestries such as these were often made in series to be hung in doorways (portières).

    Albert Auwercx (d. 1717) joined the guild of tapestry weavers in 1657, and was active through the early years of the eighteenth century.
