Two porcelain bowls and a porcelain cup
Arita ware, late 17th-late 18th century
The bowls decorated in underglaze cobalt, polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear glaze, the cup polychrome enamels over a clear glaze, comprising; a deep bowl on a high, tapered ring foot decorated in Imari style with pine an cherry trees on the interior and cloud-shaped panels containing pine, plum and bamboo against a ground of peony scroll, the foot painted with stiff leaves and wave patterns, the interior rim with geometric brocade punctuated by reserves of chrysanthemums and a gilt edge, foot painted with blossoming plum; a small cup moulded in chrysanthemum form and set on a high ring foot, the interior "petals" decorated with patterns of waves and brocade in groups of two, the well with a stylized plum floret; a shaving bowl painted with a large central design of a vase of peonies and berries, the rim with alternating reserves of cherry blossoms on a stream and formalized flower blossoms, rim gilded, the underside decorated with branches of plum
