1868-S $20
A wonderful, frosty specimen featuring soft mint bloom colors golden-orange overall. The 1868-S is an often overlooked coin in the Type Two series, definitely underrated and one that is seldom available in Uncirculated condition, bagmarked or clean surfaced, frosty or dull. This is an original coin which delights in having fresh warm golden-orange patina that includes sunset accents in selected recesses. It is essentially free from bagmarks, and not in the least bit dull. On the contrary, it is loaded with frost, especially on the reverse. Soft strikes are all too common with 1868-S, however, this piece shows excellent detailing, save for the typically weak obverse stars. Certain to provide a good showing when it reaches the auction block. (PCGS 8954) Choice Uncirculated
