A Gandhi typed and signed letter written in Yeravda Central Prison, with photograph
GANDHI, MOHANDAS KARAMCHAND. 1869-1948.
Typed Letter Signed ("M K Gandhi"), 1 p, square 8vo, Yeravda Central Prison, January 28th, 1933, to Sjt. R. Kaimal, stamped "Superintendent Yeravda Central Prison," faint annotation in red pencil in margin, creased horizontally, light soiling, matted and framed with portrait photo and name plate to 17 1/2 x 32 inches.

Gandhi informs Kaimal he's received his letter, and admonishes, "I wish you will adopt a simple style to express simple ideas and give up all metaphor and ornamentation." He then gives Kaimal a list of six things to remember; among them, "No cause that is backed by truth is ever lost," and, "Don't mix up the loose life of modern times with a very big movement for religious reform."
