Letterpress Document Signed Twice ("Th:Jefferson"), 1 p, folio (364 x 238 mm), [Philadelphia, 1793], very faint mat shadow, light toning.
Very attractive document, with rare twin signatures on two important Acts. The first sets the salary of the U.S. President at $25,000 and the Vice President at $5000. The second states that the federal government, rather than the local French and Canadian settlers, will pay for the survey of lands around Post Saint Vincent in the Northwest Territory. Post Saint Vincent was another name for Vincennes, the earliest European town in present-day Indiana (History of the City of Evansville and Vanderburg County, Indiana, 1910, p 6).
