Early quarto edition, identified by Bartlett as the earliest undated quarto and the second edition overall (after the first dated 1684), but more recently placed by Wing as after the 1691 dated edition. This is one of four 17th century undated issues, in the present copy p 19 is misnumbered 91; p 25 and p 32 are correctly numbered; pp 52-53 are misnumbered 60-61. Bartlett 113; Wing S2923.
Provenance: pencil ownership inscription of Philip Wickser [of Buffalo, NY]; likely purchased from HENRIETTA BARTLETT, the Shakespeare bibliographer, a note of hers is laid in and dated Feb 16, 1948 and identifies this copy as no 465a in the 1939 census.
