Footnotes

  • This guitar is one of the replicas of Stevie Ray Vaughan's Stratocaster nicknamed 'Lenny'. This particular guitar was built by Mark Kendrick of Fender Custom Shop. The original guitar was donated by Jimmie Vaughan to the second Eric Clapton Crossroads auction at Christie's, New York, 24 June 2004 and was purchased by The Guitar Centre for $623,500. Fender in collaboration with The Guitar Centre produced limited edition replicas retailing at $17,000 each, in December 2007. The replicas reproduced Lenny's fine details including the 1965 Fender Stratocaster alder body refinished to brown and a bowlback mandolin pickguard inlaid as a whole below the bridge, the reflective SRV sticker, the customized neck (the original was a Charvel neck, a gift from ZZ Top's Billy F. Gibbons) with the battered headstock, the autograph that Stevie personally etched into the neck plate, and an autograph inscription on the back of the body by Houston Astros baseball player, Mickey Mantle.

This guitar has been generously donated to the auction by Fender Musical Instrument Corps.
