The present lot was given to Désiré Keteleer winner of the 1st Tour de Romandie in 1947.

The Tour de Romandie, was founded that year to celebrate the 50th anniversary founding of the first Swiss cycling club. It is a stage race inspired by the famous Tour de France and Giro. That year, the Swiss Military organized the race and the sponsor of the event was The Walt Disney Company.

Reference 96 is the most well known Patek reference and it is considered its most classic design, the present lot is a rare version in steel, in excellent condition, and the fact that it has multiple provenance sport, military and Hollywood, most probably unique.
