- The Reference 6542 was originally introduced for Pan American pilots in 1957. The watch is fitted with an additional hand, which is used as a 24-hour indicator. Coupled with the rotating bezel, it can be used as a second time zone. Military pilots, astronauts and world travelers have used it.
The present lot is an early model fitted with a Bakelite bezel and has a gilt dial with beautiful patina.
