A lot of two silver-mounted Caucasian kindjals
late 19th century
Comprising: 1) Straight 12 1/2 inch blade with three fullers; grip of familiar form with engraved niello silver mounts and wood gripscales; leather scabbard with engraved niello silver mounts, the reverse of the throat with inscription and date 1297 (1879). 2) Straight 15 1/2 inch double edged blade with three fullers, stopping above the hilt on the front above two Islamic maker's marks and unstopped on the reverse. Horn gripscales with silver overlaid steel mounts.
Condition: Blades showing dark, mottled patina with some minor pitting. 2) Hilt mounts with wear to silver.
