A silver-mounted Spanish Colonial dagger
Philippine Islands, 19th century
Heavy 13 inch, single edged blade of regional form, one side engraved with C-scrolls and diamonds highlighted with copper inlay. One-piece ebony grip finely relief-carved with acanthus leaves and leafy meander and with a basketweave panel on the underside. Silver ferrule and pommel, each with central engraved band flanked by flat washers with reeded rims. Pommel surmounted by a leafy blossom in full relief. Horn scabbard with incised banding on the front, the mounts of silver.
Condition: Fine. Blade with some light spotting.
