The current vendor bought this Honda CB400F2 in 1996 shortly after it had been restored by the preceding owner using rare and expensive new-old-stock parts, exhaust system included. Originally red in colour, the machine came with an extensive file of receipts, which has since been lost. Though the Honda had been restored it had not been run or used and the vendor experienced several problems some of which he resolved. The engine is said to run well but the carburettors need balancing and the vendor has experienced fasteners loosening, which he attributes to the engine's powder-coated paint finish deforming when hot. After the machine was dropped taking it off the main stand, the dented fuel tank was repaired and repainted by Lewis & Templeton. At the same time the vendor fitted crash bars, Boyer Bransden ignition, a braided front brake hose and new-old-stock handlebars, headlamp shell, instrument panel and mirrors to replace some poor original parts. Though the bike has been MoT'd regularly it has seen little use and would benefit from running and refining. It should be noted that although the tyres are in good condition they are some 15 years old. The machine comes with owner's handbook, tool kit and Swansea V5.
