Footnotes

  • Sara Fina Tafoya (1863-1949) was well known for using bear paw impressions as a decorative device on her pottery. Examples of such work can be seen in many museums and references. She also experimented with other motifs rendered in similar fashion, such as Avanyus, birds, and simple geometric notions like the ring of short tick marks or dimples on the current lot.
