JFK ON THE RUSSIANS AIMING FOR THE MOON.
Typed Memorandum Signed ("John Kennedy"), 1 p, 9 x 7 inches, Washington, October 23, 1963, to James Webb, very light toning to left side, several staple holes.
"I think it would be helpful to collect clippings similar to the attached showing that the Russians are interested in getting a man on the moon. This would make an additional defense for our efforts." A month before his assassination, Kennedy writes to the NASA Administrator, trying to bolster the case for the space program and echoing his goal of putting a man on the moon.
