A very fine Royal Worcester vase and cover by George Owen, dated 1918
Of neoclassical goblet form with scrolled handles from which hang moulded bunches of gilded grapes, the cover with an acanthus leaf knop framed by a ring of applied gilded pearls, raised on further pierced acanthus leaves with a wide band of graduated honeycomb pierced around the edge of the cover, the vase rim with a simple border of larger piercing above a band of tooled gold ornament, a wide band of honeycomb piercing around the body highlighted with raised gold dots, the hexagonal stem with alternating panels of piercing and gilt decoration above a moulded circular base further applied with gilt pearls, 19.6cm high, gold mark, shape number 2402, incised signature G Owen (2)
