The cavetto fully painted with a titled view of 'LLANRWST BRIDGE', a group of five fishermen in a boat before it, three figures and a dog on the shore, within a gilded neoclassical border, 23.8cm diam, title in brown upper case lettering (tiny slither chip to rim)

  • The image is taken from an engraving in Henry Gastineau's 'Wales Illustrated', published in 1830. The plates belongs to an important group of Nantgarw plates decorated with Welsh topographical scenes, taken from the same source. See the previous lot in this sale. The bridge over the River Conwy at Llanrwst was built in 1736, reputedly by Inigo Jones
