one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings surmounted with crosses, queens with feather finials, bishops with open mitres, knights as carved horses' heads, rooks as monobloc turrets with battlements, pawns with reeded ball finials, in a 19th century wooden and boxwood inlaid box,
the king 10.2cm high, the pawn 3.7cm high.
