Dieppe, 18th century,
stained red and left natural, the white side as Europeans, the red side as Moors, kings and queens as monarchs wearing crowns and holding feathered fans, bishops as clergy or holding churchwarden pipes, knights as horsemen, rooks as turrets with brickwork and raised on circular bases, pawns with hair tied back and wearing ear-rings,
the king 10cm high, the pawn 7cm high.
