Chocolate Opal Half Nodule
Shewa Province, Ethiopia
A classic for the locality, these nodules which were discovered perhaps 10-12 years ago, are now considered to be classics for the region. Actually half of a nodule, the specimen exhibits a deposition of opal within the rhyolite matrix. The body color is a rich, deep chocolate brown with broad flashes of orange, green and yellow and red play-of-color. Measures 36.0 x 34.0 x 16.0mm
