Footnotes

  • Designed by Danuta Solowej-Wedderburn, this was struck by the Royal Mint in 2010, following a poll to shortlist the next 'Great Briton' to feature on a limited edition coin. John Lennon was voted as the winner, with Jane Austen and Sir Walter Raleigh amongst the list of possibles. The silver proof coin sold out in a matter of days and as a gesture of thanks for the support Yoko Ono had shown the campaign, the Royal Mint struck this unique gold coin.

Presented to Yoko Ono and to be sold on behalf of the Alder Hey 'Imagine' Appeal, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool.
