Dead Of Night,
Ealing Studios, 1946,
British Door Panel poster (top portion of poster only), featuring Leslie Hurry artwork, printed to the reverse of a World War II 'Red Cross/ St. Johns Ambulance' charitable donation poster, with inscription to bottom DEAD OF NIGHT 60 x 20, rolled, 20 x 30 inches

  • This particular part door panel is an extremely rare version of the Dead of Night poster. The lower portion of the poster is not included with the lot and therefore it is unknown as to how it would have appeared upon release.

The fact that it is printed on a recycled WWII poster, highlights the paper shortage during the post war period. The use of Door Panel format posters is also particularly unusual during the 1940s and therefore this may be attributed to the limited paper stock.

Leslie Hurry (1909 - 1978) was a British artist and set designer. This particular artwork, most visible on the British Quad, is one of the most famous images in British Horror genre.
