inscribed to spring loafer Jacques Bruguier 14 rue Cha[imés] Geneva, with fusee movement, eight-cam stack for unknown sequential birdsong, the bird body de-feathered, but retaining all internal linkages, both body halves including wings (one loose) and head moulds, finely pierced and chased gilt grille, in silver-gilt case, bird lid not present, main lid with typical quartered sprays of flowers in various colours on clipper blue ground, intermediate scrolls with petit-point work and dark blue enamel infils, border with stylised flower heads against black enamel ground with traces of white enamel highlights throughout, shaped corners, sides with geometric medallions on wave-line ground, start/stop in yellow metal to front-right, underside panel not present, with parts of period key 3.3/4in. (9.5cm) wide
