A late 19th century 7.5in.(19cm)radius ladder frame sextant,
by RF Bottomley, London, numbered on the arc 5089, and inscribed Edward Hay RN, 1879. Reading from -5 to 140 degrees on the silvered scale, the index arm with magnifying mirror and vernier reading to 10 seconds. Fitted with manual parallax screw adjustment on the horizon mirror, three horizon and four sunshades. In original wooden carrying case with telescope, inverter tubes and filters.
