as laid in 1874 by the C.S. Faraday,
the single solid core with micro copper cover, encased in pitch shroud, wrapped in loose hair then bound in hemp rope containing ten-core earth reinforcing rods, later clipped and wired, tied with printed headed label from the India Rubber, Gutta Percha & Telegraph Works, Co., Ltd., Silvertown, London, inscribed in ink with details of the salvage operation, later label with a copy of the inscription; together with a folio containing good detail of the history, vessel names, benefactor names and linking dates for the 1858-1874 cables -
