with the six cylinders playing 6 airs each of a wide programme including operatic, aria, dance, waltz and quadrilles, single-spring motor, single-section stamped comb on reeded brass bedplate, ebonised interior under dustlid, original tunesheet loose and preserved in flat folio, in imposing and fully rosewood veneered case, the slight-domed lid with large and fine inlaid geometric cartouche in the Classical taste with lyre top, ribbon dressed hawthorn branches above Rococo lintel and oval boss, joined by bunched laurel swags and C scrolls executed in a number of stained fruitwoods, crossbanded border in kingwood and tulipwood stringing, repeated to front and sides, with the front central oval with a side-profile study of a dancer at a masked ball, on ebonised moulded plinth, on the matching table stand with rounded corners, the crossbanding with accompanying single linier strung inlay, deep shaped apron front with top drawer opening to reveal fitted secretaire slide with inset black leather top, sliding for inkwell compartment and nib tray, the lower drawer for fitted cylinder storage, intermediate ebonised moulding between micro-crossbanding, shaped apron continuing to sides and back, on part ring-turned and fluted hexagonal supports, on turned treen castors - 29in. (74cm) wide, the table width 40in. (102cm), the total height 39in. (99cm), the cylinders 13in. (33cm)
