A rare Autophone automatic phonograph console, by The American Phonograph Co.,
similar to the Hexophone, circa 1910,
the 12-finger carousel movement, belt-driven from concealed motor below, 2 and 4-minute gearing adjustment rod above combination running and return worm, suspended fluted papier-mâché horn with shaped cast movement plate bearing floral design in front of the reproducer arm, the whole movement finished in nickel plating, in red velvet-lined interior to removable rear panel for motor access and base, Amberol/cylinder select knob, start/stop and winding crank protruding cabinet front, in tall mahogany case with arched top, fan fret over horn aperture, flaming torch carved finial, double fluted ionic columns flanking bevelled glazed door, further bevelled glazed panels to sides, panel base with door to front opening to reveal three Amberol/cylinder storage plates, each with dowels for un-cartoned storage, on turned bun feet, the cabinet with later vanished finished to the dark grain, with a quantity of Amberols, (original belt frayed but present) - 74.1/2in. (189cm) high
