- Pre-war bakelite telephones tend to suffer from UV light damage and staining from water and nicotine far worse than the examples made from the early 1950s. The use of colour -fixing chemicals in the phenol liquid in these later phone cases, reduced and even stopped the problems seen in these three examples.
Although labelled as poor condition, finding ones which are this bad may be looked upon as being just as rare as examples which are perfect.
