17-jewel Cal.722 manual wind chronograph movement adjusted to 2 positions, matt-black dial signed 'Rolex chronographe', applied white baton hour markers with outer white printed scale, silvered subsidiary dials for running seconds, 30 minute and 12 hour recording, baton hands with luminous inserts, white tipped chronograph arrow hand, brushed and polished case with plain polished bezel, screw on back, round push buttons flanking the screw down crown, fitted Rolex Oyster bracelet with 4-1967 date code on the folding Rolex clasp, case, dial and movement signed
36mm.

Footnotes

  • The reference 6238 is called by collectors the "Pre-Daytona". Examples were produced in stainless steel, 14ct and 18ct gold. It was published for the first time in the Rolex catalogue for the Italian market in 1964 and remained until only 1967. The Calibre 722 appeared in these types of watches from approximately 1965. It is estimated that around 3,600 examples were produced from 1964 to 1967.
