The gorge case surmounted by a hinged handle over the oval top glass mounted in a foliate and floral engraved panel, the moulded cornice enriched with alternate geometric and floral borders, over side panels decorated with conforming floral studies within scroll borders, over the moulded base, the signed 3.25 inch enamel Roman and Arabic dial with subsidiary seconds at XII and gilt fluer-de-lis hands, over three further dials for the day, alarm and date, all within the engraved gilt mask, the substantial signed movement with a large lever platform escapement recessed into the top of the plates, striking and repeating the hours and quarters on two coiled blued steel gongs, controlled by a three position lever to the underside marked 'Pte Sonnerie, Silence, Gde Sonnerie'.
