Footnotes

  • Lacloche Frères was founded in Madrid in 1875 by four brothers. They opened their first shop in Paris in 1892 and by the 1920s had branches in London, Biarritz and Deauville. The brothers took inspiration from oriental art and from the fables of La Fontaine. They were originally famed for their art of the 'necessaire' but became premiere jewellers after they exhibited at the 1925 Exposition Internationale, where they presented pieces from some of the best comtemporary workshops and designers.
