  There is a long and notable tradition of landscape painting in Scotland, and Patrick took up DY Cameron's mantle in the 1920's as its chief exponent. However he was a very different artist from his predecessor, focussing primarily on his native Angus and Perthshire to produce clear and bright vistas rendered with exceptional draughtsmanship and attention to detail. This example encapsulates his best work, and is an archetypally Scottish winter scene.
