Continental School, circa 1760
A Nobleman, wearing suit of armour, white stock and lace cravat, green frill to his collar and gardbrace, a red ermine trimmed cloak secured at his right shoulder with a cameo brooch, a breast star on his left side, his powdered wig worn en queue and tied with a black ribbon bow.

- It has been suggested that the sitter in the present lot is Charles Emmanuel IV (17511819), King of Sardinia (1796-1802) and comparable full-scale portraits support this.
