  • John Dawson Downes was a bookseller and printer in Great Yarmouth. He married Mary Drake (1759-1829) in 1810 and they had no issue. Mary was the widow of Mayor Henry Alexander. Mr Dawson Downes retired from business to Old Gunton Hall in Lowestoft, Suffolk where he occupied himself with hawking and falconry.
