An 1800-10 dark purple damask silk spencer
Centre front fastening, with a rounded collar, full length sleeves, with puffed detail at the shoulder and four piped bands gathering the sleeve at the wrist, with a silk waistband featuring two buttons at the centre back; together with an 1850s bright blue silk ugly and an 1870s dark purple velvet bonnet trimmed with satin ribbons.   • The ugly was worn around the front of the bonnet, to give added protection from the sun, particularly with small-brimmed or spoon bonnets.
