A powder blue and iron red rouleau vase
Kangxi
Finely painted with two pairs of pouting carp facing each other across the blue ground with traces of gilt flowers, fish and shrimp, also visible are remnants of a stiff leaf border at foot and shou characters on the neck framed by a diaper band at the shoulder and key-fret around the rim, an old collector's label on base, (hairline crack in body and chip to underside of rim),

  • Provenance: once owned by Mary Burrell, the youngest sister of Glasgow based collector Sir William Burrell, and thence by family decent to present owners.
