A George III Irish gold Limerick Freedom box,
unmarked,
the cover engraved with the arms of the City of Limerick and a presentation inscription; "The Corpn of Limerick To The Right Honble Heny Thos Earl of Carrick," with rope twist detail to the reeded edge, the sides with a floral and foliate engraved band, the base with hatched detail to the edge, height 3.5cm, diameter 6.6cm, weight 129gms.

  • Henry Thomas Butler, 2nd Earl of Carrick (1746 – 1813), was given the freedom of the City of Limerick on 24 August 1775. Carrick held the office of Member of Parliament for Killyleagh in the Parliament of Ireland between 1768 and 1774, until he acceded to the title.
