A George II Irish silver salver,
by Robert Calderwood, Dublin 1745,
with moulded scroll and leaf embellished border, finely flat chased and engraved with a wide band of asymmetrical rococo scrolls on a matted ground, entwined in the decoration are four vignettes each a different scene, viz;- a fox and grapes, a drunken reveller, a stag and a seated lady with a dog at her feet, centre engraved with a large coat of arms, raised on four scroll and pad feet, scratch engraved on reverse "104=2", length 46.5cm, weight 101oz.

  • The arms of QUIN quartering WYNDHAM for QUIN-WYNDHAM, the family name of the Earls of Dunraven & Mount-Earl. Wyndham Quin, MP, of Adare, co. Limerick succeeded to his father's estate in 1744. His son Valentine Richard Quin was honoured succesively as a Baronet 1781, Barony 1800, Viscounty 1816 and Earldom 1822.
