Eliot"), to the Warden, University Centre, Bradford ("Dear Mr Shaw"), declining his invitation to give a talk: "I have to consider lecture engagements pretty carefully since I am not competent at informal talks and have to write out what I have to say in full, which takes several weeks of my spare time"; and explaining that "My Convocation lecture at Leeds was a very exceptional task for me to undertake and normally when I go up to Yorkshire it is for the purpose of rest and relaxation", one pages, headed paper, nick to margin, a little creased, 4to, Faber & Faber, Russell Square, 20 July 1961
