Autograph receipt signed ("W. Wilkie Collins"), for one guinea received from the Dean of Westminster for a copy of his memoir of William Collins, one page, on a narrow oblong slip (c.62 x 190 mm), blue paper, short tear neatly repaired, tipped onto album leaf, London, 9 December 1848


  • Wilkie Collins sells a copy of his first book, to the eminent geologist (and dinosaur hunter) William Buckland, Dean of Westminster. He was just twenty when his biography of his father, the painter William Collins RA, who had died the previous year, was published in 1848.
